A sad news is coming for the literary world. Hindi poet and storyteller Vinod Kumar Shukla passed away today at the age of 89. He breathed his last at AIIMS, Raipur. He was ill for a long time and breathed his last on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had spoken to Vinod Kumar Shukla on November 1 last month and inquired about his health. Shukla is survived by his wife, son Shashtav and a daughter. Shashwat Shukla told PTI that Shukla was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur on 2nd of this month, where he breathed his last at 4:58 pm today, after experiencing respiratory distress. Shashtav said Shukla’s body will be taken to his residence first. Details of his funeral will be announced soon.

They said Shukla was admitted to a private hospital in Raipur in October after he started experiencing respiratory problems. After his condition improved, he was discharged and has been receiving treatment at home since then. He said that on December 2, his condition suddenly worsened and he was taken to AIIMS, Raipur, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
