The matches of the second round of Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2025-26 season were played on Friday (26 December). Like the first round, the second round too was dominated by the batsmen. While 22 centuries were scored in the first round of matches on 24 December, 14 century innings were played in the second round.

Veteran batsman Virat Kohli scored 77 runs in 61 balls against Gujarat in Bengaluru. He was stumped out on the ball of Vishal Jaiswal. After his departure, captain Rishabh Pant played a restrained inning of 70 runs and took Delhi to a strong score (254/9). Chasing the target, Gujarat had taken steps towards victory but Delhi made a strong comeback in the last overs and registered a close victory by 7 runs. Prince Yadav trapped Ravi Bishnoi at the hands of Kohli and wrapped up Gujarat’s innings at 247 runs in 47.3 overs. Kohli was the player of the match.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s account was also not opened. He was out for a golden duck against Uttarakhand in Jaipur. However, the rest of the Mumbai batsmen performed unitedly and took the team to a huge score of 331 runs. Chasing this, Uttarakhand team could only score 280 runs after losing 9 wickets. On the other hand, in Rajkot, Uttar Pradesh defeated Chandigarh by 227 runs due to the explosive centuries of Aryan Juyal (134 runs in 118 balls) and Rinku Singh (106 not out in 60 balls).

Tamil Nadu vs Madhya Pradesh

Tamil Nadu won the toss and batted first and scored 280 runs losing all the wickets in 49.3 overs, which Madhya Pradesh achieved by losing 8 wickets in 49.4 overs.

Jharkhand vs Rajasthan

Jharkhand, after being invited to bat first, scored 301 runs and restricted Rajasthan to 228 runs.

After winning the toss, Puducherry team was restricted to 150 runs while batting first. In reply, Tripura won the match by scoring 151 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 32.3 overs.

Kerala vs Karnataka

Karnataka won the toss and decided to bowl first and after restricting Kerala to 284 runs, achieved the target by losing 2 wickets in 48.2 overs with the help of centuries from Devdutt Padikkal (124) and Karun Nair (130 not out).

outcome – Karnataka won by 8 wickets

Jammu and Kashmir vs Assam

Jammu and Kashmir, who came to bat first after losing the toss in Rajkot, scored a huge score of 341 runs at the loss of 7 wickets and then bowled out Assam for just 199 runs.

outcome – Jammu and Kashmir won by 142 runs

bengal vs baroda

Baroda won the toss and decided to bowl first and won by bowling out Bengal for 205 runs and losing 6 wickets in 38.5 overs.

outcome – Baroda won by 4 wickets

vidarbha vs hyderabad

When invited to bat first, Vidarbha scored 365 runs at the loss of 5 wickets. In response, Hyderabad team was all out for 276 runs.

Uttar Pradesh vs Chandigarh

With the help of centuries from Aryan Juyal (134) and Rinku Singh (106 not out), Uttar Pradesh all out Chandigarh for 140 after scoring 367 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

Sikkim vs Maharashtra

Maharashtra won the toss and decided to bowl first and all out Sikkim for 150 runs. After this, the team captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad chased the target after losing 2 wickets in 18 overs.

Goa vs Himachal Pradesh

After scoring a strong score of 285 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, Goa all out Himachal Pradesh for 277 runs in 49.3 overs.

Despite Rohit Sharma’s dismissal on a golden duck in Jaipur, Mumbai scored 331 runs at the loss of 7 wickets and then restricted Uttarakhand to 280 runs.

Chhattisgarh vs Punjab

Chhattisgarh had scored 253 runs against Punjab. With the help of centuries from Harnoor Singh (115 not out) and Anmolpreet Singh (105 not out), Punjab easily achieved this target by losing 1 wicket in 42.1 overs.

Saurashtra vs Haryana

In Alur, Saurashtra lost the toss and batted first and scored 253 runs, which Haryana achieved by losing 4 wickets in 39 overs with the help of Yashvardhan Dalali’s unbeaten century.

Railways vs Andhra

Railways had scored 266 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Andhra chased this target in 44.4 overs by losing 4 wickets.

Services vs Odisha

Odisha won the toss and decided to bowl first and bowled out Services for just 83 runs. However, while chasing this small target, Odisha also lost 6 wickets.
