Aadhaar card is no longer just an ID but has become the ‘master key’ of your life. Be it bank work, getting government subsidy or any SIM card… every lock opens with this key.

In such a situation, if any information in your Aadhaar is old or incorrect, then this news is a ‘last warning’ for you. The government has set the deadline for some changes as 31 December 2025. If you miss this date, not only will you be out of pocket, but many of your important tasks may also get stuck.

So what are those most important tasks?

The government has extended the facility to correct mistakes like name, address and date of birth for free till June 2026, but there are some tasks for which you have only a few days left.

Task No. 1: PAN-Aadhaar linking (most important!)

This is the most important task on this list.

  • Deadline: 31 December 2025

  • Why important: If you have not linked your PAN card with Aadhaar, your PAN card will become ‘inoperative’ (useless) after December 31.

  • What will happen: Your tax refund will get stuck, you will not be able to take any loan or invest, and TDS on your salary will also be deducted double.

Task No. 2: 10 year old Aadhaar update

If it has been 10 years or more since your Aadhar card was made, then do this work immediately.

  • What to do: Check your address and mobile number online once and update it if there is any change.

  • Why is it important: Due to outdated information, money from government schemes like gas subsidy or pension can get stuck.

Task number 3: Children’s ‘Baal Aadhaar’ update

If you have children between 5 to 15 years of age in your house, then it is your responsibility.

  • What to do: It is mandatory to update the biometrics (fingerprints) of children at the age of 5 years and 15 years.

  • Why is it important: If this is not updated then there may be huge problems in school admission and scholarship in future.

How to update in 10 minutes sitting at home? (Online Method)

You do not need to visit any centre.

  1. Go to myAadhaar portal.

  2. Login with your Aadhaar number and OTP.

  3. For whatever information needs to be changed, upload any one valid document (like Voter ID, Passport, Ration Card).

  4. Submit the form, you will get a URN number from which you can check your status.
Note: For this, your mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar.

Don’t delay, otherwise…
You may have to pay a heavy penalty for PAN-Aadhaar linking after December 31. At the same time, for other minor updates also, a charge of Rs 50 to Rs 100 may be imposed.

Lakhs of people are still careless. Don’t make this mistake. Check your and your family’s Aadhaar today itself and take advantage of this golden opportunity to start the new year without any tension.
