Read Entertainment Desk: Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar’ is making waves at the box office. Despite the theatrical release of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, the film has maintained its momentum. This spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar was released on December 5 and within three weeks of its release it has earned more than Rs 500 crore. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshay Khanna, Aditya and Arjun Rampal. Amidst all this discussion, actor Naveen Kaushik, who played the role of Donga in the film, recently shared a long note expressing his gratitude.

Naveen Kaushik praised Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar

Taking to Instagram, Naveen talked about the challenges he faced in his acting journey, and how difficult it was for him to believe in himself amidst rejection and self-doubt. He wrote, “Dear @adityadharfilms sir, being an actor means trust. First of all, making your family trust that you have chosen the right path. Then making the industry trust you as a professional. Then making a director trust you with his vision. And finally making the audience trust you to entertain you.”

He further added, “In the midst of all this, you forget that first of all, you have to believe in yourself. The belief that all the sacrifices, all the rejections, all the hours of waiting for casting calls that never come back, the ego-stroking, the networking, the hustle for payment, the doubting of your ability in front of talentless “stars”—it all means something. It means you were meant to be here. That you deserve it. I had lost my faith in myself and was ready to leave the industry. This was my last attempt.

I was about to quit acting: Naveen

Recalling their first meeting, the actor said, “We were two boys of the same age who were connected to their roots of Delhi theatre. Remembering how and why we came to this heart-touching city. I still remember the day when you gathered several actors from the cast and after narrating the story said to all of us, “I need all of you to trust me and help me complete this huge project.” I suddenly felt that this is my film. Not because I was acting in it, but because of me, like I had become a part of the village that raises a child.”

Kaushik finally said that the journey of the last one and a half year has been a journey. Difficult, sometimes frustrating, but very exciting. From location to action, through it all, Aditya sir, you were the captain who steadied the boat. When some people might have lost the vision, you kept it. When the heat of the moment could have distracted anyone, you maintained your composure. You trusted me to bring one of your characters to life and helped make it one of my greatest achievements. You helped me believe in myself again. Now that you are reaching the upper echelon of directors in this country, I know that the world now sees you for the master, genius, artisan and storyteller that you truly are.

The film’s sequel, Dhurandhar 2, will be released in theaters on March 19, 2026.
