The grand announcement came at the Jana Nayagan audio launch, dubbed “Thalapathy Thiruvizha,” held at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia on December 27, 2025. Nearly 100,000 fans gathered, making it a record-breaking event entered in the Malaysian Book of Records. Vijay, visibly moved, addressed the sea of supporters, saying, “When I entered the cinema, I thought I was building a small sand house here. But you all have built me a palace. Fans helped me build a fort… That’s why I’ve decided to stand for them.”

He doubled down on his exit, stating, “For the fans who gave up everything for me, I’m giving up cinema itself.”  The six-hour spectacle featured high security and a “no-politics” rule from Malaysian police, yet Vijay hinted at his 2026 Tamil Nadu election plans with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Fans’ unwavering support

Vijay credited his fans for turning early criticisms into stardom. “I’ve faced every kind of criticism right from day one… But my fans have stood by me from the very beginning, supporting me relentlessly for 33 years,” he shared. Veteran actor Nasser gave a tearful tribute, calling Vijay “critic-proof” and “irreplaceable,” urging him to reconsider.

The star also teased his political fire: “If you want to succeed in life, you may not need friends, but you need a strong enemy. Only when there’s a strong enemy, you become stronger. So, in 2026, history will repeat.” This shift marks the end of his 69th and final film, prioritising public service over “massive salary.”

Jana Nayagan details

Directed by H. Vinoth, known for socially aware films, Jana Nayagan boasts a stellar cast including Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, and Priyamani. Vijay praised Vinoth: “H Vinoth is a highly socially responsible filmmaker.” Music by Anirudh Ravichander added to the emotional high, with the event airing on Zee Tamil on January 4, 2026.
