The Archaeological Department has hit the pockets of tourists who went to Jaipur to enjoy the New Year. Ticket prices at several tourist spots have been significantly increased.
Tourists who arrived in Jaipur to celebrate the New Year have received a major shock. The ticket prices at several tourist spots have been doubled. This is causing considerable inconvenience to those visiting Jaipur. Let's find out how much the tickets for each tourist spot now cost.
It is worth noting that thousands of tourists have come to Jaipur to celebrate the New Year. They wanted to experience Jaipur's history during the long weekend coinciding with the New Year, but their hopes have now been dashed.
The Archaeological Department has increased the entry ticket prices for major sites in Jaipur from January 1, 2026. Tourists will now have to pay Rs. 200 instead of Rs. 100 for entry to Amer Fort, the most prominent tourist destination in the Pink City.
Similarly, entry to Albert Hall, Nahargarh Fort, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal will now cost Rs. 100 instead of Rs. 50. A two-day composite ticket will now also cost Rs. 550.
Besides general tourists, the entry fees for students and foreign tourists have also been increased. The student ticket price has more than doubled. Students previously paid Rs. 22 for entry to Amer Fort, but now they will have to pay Rs. 50.
The Archaeological Department says that the ticket prices have increased after 10 years. However, tourists are not happy with the decision to increase ticket prices, and the tourist guides associated with these major sites are also angry.
Tourists say that these major sites in Jaipur are repositories of history and heritage. Therefore, more tourists should be encouraged to visit so that more people can learn about them. Restricting access to these sites simply because of money is not right. Meanwhile, tour guides at tourist spots also believe that this will likely have a significant impact on local tourism. It will also affect their livelihoods. People have appealed for the decision to be reversed.
