Akali Dal’s politics has stooped to a shameful level, they are betraying the poor of Punjab to please BJP’s masters: MLA Dhaliwal

Punjab News: Aam Aadmi Party Punjab chief spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), alleging that they are conspiring against the poor, Dalits and women MNREGA workers through the newly introduced Ji Ram Ji Bill.

Addressing a press conference, Dhaliwal said that by bringing this new bill in the name of reforms, BJP has snatched away the last morsel from the mouth of the poor. This bill is a direct attack on the livelihood of crores of MNREGA workers, especially Dalits and backward classes.

MLA Dhaliwal claimed that AAP has strongly opposed this bill in the Punjab Assembly and if necessary, will fight on the streets also. He announced that the Aam Aadmi Party is fully ready for the movement. We will not allow this anti-poor bill to be implemented at any cost.

Questioning the double standards of the Akali Dal, Dhaliwal said that the absence of the Akali Dal during the discussion in the Assembly makes their secret alliance with the BJP clear. He said that when the Punjab Assembly passed a resolution rejecting this bill of BJP, the Akali Dal chose to remain absent. This absence is a clear indication of his behind-the-scenes agreement with the BJP.

He pointed out that two Akali Dal MLAs have already left the Badal faction and now only one MLA is left, whose absence has exposed the real face of the party. Dhaliwal further said that Akali Dal has silently supported this anti-poor and anti-Dalit bill.

Referring to earlier cases, Dhaliwal said that the silence of Shiromani Akali Dal and Shiromani Committee on BJP’s controversial social media post about Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Sahibzadas also shows their growing closeness. This silence was not sudden, but deliberate.

MLA Dhaliwal warned that weakening of MNREGA will render lakhs of families unemployed, which will have the biggest impact on women. He said that BJP talks about ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, whereas many of our mothers and sisters work in MNREGA. Taking away work from them is an attack on women’s freedom.

Condemning the Akali Dal, Dhaliwal finally said that by standing with the BJP, the Akali Dal has declared itself against the poor of Punjab. His politics has fallen to a very shameful level.
