Mohammed Shami may return to the ODI team against New Zealand. According to a report in The Telegraph, Shami may get a reward for his consistently strong performance in domestic cricket. Shami played his last international match in March 2025. Shami has been continuously ignored for the last several series. Shami could not get a chance in the England tour and then the home series played against South Africa.

However, the long wait for the Indian fast bowler may now be over. Shami has taken a total of 8 wickets in the four matches played so far in the Vijay Hazare Tournament. Along with this, keeping in mind the T20 World Cup, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah can be rested for the ODI series.

New Zealand series schedule

The three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand is to start from January 11. The first match of the series is to be played at BCA Cricket Stadium, Baroda. Whereas, the second match will be played in Rajkot on 14 January. Holkar Stadium of Indore will host the last and third match of the series. After the ODI, a five-match T-20 series will be played between the two teams. The T-20 series will start from January 21, whose last match will be played on January 31.
