Punjab Vigilance: Under the zero tolerance policy adopted by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Tehsildar Jagtar Singh posted in Sangrur district on charges of taking a bribe of Rs 30,000. His co-criminal will also be arrested soon. During the search of the house of the accused Tehsildar, an amount of Rs 1,45,000 was recovered.
Giving information, Vigilance Bureau spokesperson said that this arrest has been made after a complaint lodged by a resident of village Mahilaan in Sangrur district against Jagtar Singh Tehsildar and Malvinder Singh Clerk posted at Tehsil Office Sangrur.
The spokesperson further said that the complainant has alleged that he had approached the accused to get the land purchased by him registered. Both the accused had taken a bribe of Rs 30,000/- to get the land registered.
After investigation of the complaint, it was found that the above allegations are indeed true. The spokesperson said that in this regard, a case has been registered against both the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act at Vigilance Bureau Police Range, Patiala and further investigation of the case is underway.
Vigilance Bureau Punjab appeals to the people to report any such incidents of corruption to us. The Vigilance Bureau is committed to take strict action against all those involved in corruption.
