Hyderabad: A final year student of IIT Hyderabad has got a job in a Dutch trading company with a salary of Rs 2.5 crore. Indian IIT student Edward Nathan Varghese has got this high salary job in Dutch trading company Optiver. This is the most expensive salary package ever received by a student since the inception of IIT Hyderabad. When Edward Nathan Varghese joined IIT Hyderabad as a computer science undergraduate student, he, like thousands of other students, focused on coding, classes, and competitions. But even he himself did not know that after four years he would get a job worth Rs 2.5 crore. This is the biggest salary package received by a student of IIT Hyderabad since its establishment in 2008.

21 year old Edward Nathan Varghese has received this offer from Optiver, a global trading firm based in Netherlands. After converting a two-month summer internship into a pre-placement offer, Edward will join the company in July as a software engineer. By the way, Edward had not given any other interview before this job opportunity. Optiver was his first interview and first company. Two students were selected for the company's summer internship. But Edward, who was selected for the internship, took advantage of the opportunity and managed to get a full-time job.

He has attributed his success to the IIT tag, flexible academic syllabus and the emphasis given on coding and competitive programming from the first year of engineering. Born and brought up in Hyderabad, Edward later shifted to Bengaluru, where he completed his studies from 7th to 12th. It is learned that his performance in competitive examinations has been consistently good. He took admission in IIT Hyderabad in 2022 by scoring AIR 1100 in JEE Main exam and AIR 558 in JEE Advanced. Along with this, he also gave the Common Admission Test (CAT) in 2025 and secured 120th rank with 99.96 percentile.
