The family of Hollywood legend Tommy Lee Jones have today thanked fans for their thoughts following his daughter's death.
Victoria Kafka Jones, 34, was found lifeless in a hotel in San Francisco, California in the early hours of New Year's Day. Paramedics worked on the actress, who was in Men in Black II, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and One Tree Hill, but she was declared dead at the scene.
Jones, who had Victoria with Kimberlea Cloughley, was said to have been distraught at the tragedy but hadn't spoken of it until today. The brief family statement reads: "We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Thank you." It is also understood the family appreciate the privacy and respect afforded to them by the media.
Another hotel guest is understood to have found Victoria laying on the ground of the 14th floor of the Fairmont Hotel San Francisco. It's said the guest thought she might be drunk and alerted hotel staff.

Staff on shift are then said to have found Victoria unresponsive, and immediately called emergency services and began CPR. A source has claimed to the Daily Mail that there were no signs of foul play and no drug paraphernalia was discovered at the scene.
Jones, 79, received floods of messages of support after the tragic news broke, such as comments from fans on social media. It led to the family, which also includes his current wife Dawn Laurel, issuing the poignant statement today.
At present, the cause of death remains unknown. However, we reported yesterday, it is not thought the actress had intended to take her own life.
The San Francisco Fire Department told reporters they attended the scene at around 3am on New Year's Day. The San Francisco Police Department and the San Francisco Medical Examiner also responded, TMZ reports.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "On 1/1/26 at approximately 3:14 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a hotel located on the 900 block of Mason street regarding a report of a deceased person.
"At the scene, officers met with medics, who declared the adult female deceased. The Medical Examiner arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD."
Jones, who won a Golden Globe Award for his role in The Fugitive in 1994, shared Victoria as well as his son Austin, 42, with his second wife Kimberlea Cloughley. He was married to her from 1981 to 1996.
