Chamoli: A big one in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli on Tuesday (30th) late night accident done Two loco trains collided at THDC’s under-construction Vishnugarh-Pipalkoti hydroelectric project. Around 60 people were injured in this accident. More than 100 officials, staff and workers were working in the 13 km long tunnel of the hydroelectric project. After the accident, the injured were rushed to the hospital. This incident happened around 9:30 pm.


It is said that a 444 MW hydropower project is being constructed on Alaknanda river in Chamoli district. Work begins in this tunnel. Excavation was also done using boring machines in the tunnel. Heavy machinery was deployed in the tunnel to speed up the work. Two of these machines (loco trains) collided. More than 100 officials, staff and workers were in the tunnel at the time of the accident. About 60 people were reported injured. Construction work in the tunnel was also stopped due to the accident.


According to information received, two loco trains carrying workers collided inside the tunnel. On getting information about the accident, Collector Gaurav Kumar and Superintendent of Police Surjit Singh Panwar reached District Hospital Gopeshwar and inquired about the injured admitted there and instructed the doctors to give good treatment.


60 people are likely to be injured in the accident


In the accident at Chamoli, around 60 people were injured. Out of these, 42 injured are undergoing treatment at Gopeshwar District Hospital and 17 injured workers at Vivekananda Hospital Pipalkoti. Others are normal. Currently, the condition of all the injured is said to be stable.


Many people were injured in the accident, two seriously


100 people were injured in this accident. The trolley was carrying 110 engineers, staff and workers. He was returning from work. 42 injured were admitted to District Hospital in Gopeshwar and 17 to Vivekananda Hospital in Pipalkoti. Others were discharged home after first aid. The condition of two injured is critical. Most of the injured are residents of Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand. Brake failure of the cargo trolley is believed to be the primary cause of the accident.
