The government of Bangladesh has indefinitely suspended the telecast of the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches by issuing a directive to the broadcasters in the country on Monday.
The developement comes after Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman was axed from the upcoming edition of the marquee T20 league amid the ongoing political tension between the two countries. Mustafizur was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 9.20 crore during the IPL 2026 mini auction last December in Abu Dhabi.
In an official release, the authorities confirmed that all IPL-related broadcasts, promotions, and event coverage have been suspended indefinitely, effective immediately, and will remain so until further notice. The statement stated that the decision was made in the “public interest” and approved by the relevant authority.
