The claims match earlier reports from Polish games insider Borys Nieśpielak, who said last year that new content was being secretly developed at Fool's Theory, the studio currently handling The Witcher 1 remake for CD Projekt. Nieśpielak told Eurogamer that his information was confirmed by "several" independent sources.



Evidence supporting the reports appears in CD Projekt's recent financial report, where CFO Piotr Nielubowicz stated that "there is a chance that new content hinted upon in recent calls and reports may see release in the coming year, having an impact on our results."



A CD Projekt Red spokesperson told Eurogamer that the company does not comment on rumors or speculation. The Witcher 3 launched in 2015 and received two major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, with the latter releasing in 2016.



CD Projekt's current Witcher projects



CD Projekt is currently developing several projects set in the Witcher universe. These include The Witcher 4, a remake of The Witcher, and a multiplayer title set in the same world.



In 2025, the studio showed a The Witcher 4 tech demo, saying it reflected how the game is expected to look on a standard PlayStation 5, but stressed that it was not actual gameplay.



After some online discussions treated the footage as an early look at the game itself, CD Projekt clarified in a statement that it was "a tech demo, and a first look at the cutting-edge technology powering The Witcher 4 – but not The Witcher 4 itself."




"It showcases the powerful foundation we're building in close collaboration with Epic Games to push open-world design further than ever before and the core systems and features we're developing using Unreal Engine 5," the studio added.



The potential new expansion would arrive as CD Projekt continues supporting The Witcher 3 while developing multiple new titles in the franchise. The game remains popular years after release, particularly following its next-generation update that improved graphics and performance on current consoles and PC.
