IRCTC Ticket Booking New Rule: An important news has come out for crores of passengers traveling by Indian Railways. IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) has tightened the rules to make the online ticket booking system more secure and transparent.

Under the new rules, the ticket booking time has been limited for passengers whose IRCTC account is not linked to Aadhaar. This change is being implemented especially on the first day of opening of booking.

What is the new rule? (IRCTC Ticket Booking New Rule)

According to the new rule, users whose IRCTC account is not verified with Aadhaar will not be able to book reservation tickets from 8 am to 4 pm. During this time period, only those passengers will be able to book tickets.

Whose account will be linked and verified with Aadhaar. This rule is said to be applicable not for booking on normal days, but for the first day of opening of the ticket booking window.

Why did Railways take this decision?

IRCTC has been receiving complaints of illegal booking of tickets by fake accounts, bots and agents for a long time. Many times common passengers are not able to get tickets on time, while all the seats are filled within a few minutes. Railways wants to stop these irregularities by making Aadhaar linking mandatory, so that genuine passengers can get a fair chance to book tickets.

Which passengers will be affected?

This rule will affect all those users who have not yet linked their IRCTC account with Aadhaar. Such passengers will not be able to book tickets within the stipulated time limit, especially when the reservation window for a particular date opens for the first time. After the completion of Aadhaar verification, users will start getting all the facilities.

How to link IRCTC account with Aadhaar?

The process of linking IRCTC account with Aadhaar is completely online. For this, the user will have to login to the IRCTC website or mobile app. Go to the profile section and enter the Aadhaar number,

After which verification is done through OTP. As soon as the verification is completed, the account is linked to Aadhaar.

Will this rule remain permanent?

At present, it has not been made clear by IRCTC whether this rule will be implemented permanently or not. However, in view of digital identity and verification, Aadhaar linking may become more important in the future.
