An ICC official said of the meeting, “ICC will try to convince Bangladesh to play in India. It is not just about two teams; it also involves fans, broadcasters and traveling media… All boards know that only matches against India will fill their coffers. So, it is better to maintain good relations with BCCI.” However, according to this report, the ICC has started working on Plan B.
Four matches to be played in India
The T20 World Cup will begin on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will play four of their league matches in Kolkata and one in Mumbai. Bangladesh’s league matches are against West Indies (February 7), Italy (February 9) and England (February 14) in Kolkata and Nepal (February 17) in Mumbai. Bangladesh is in Group C along with Italy, Nepal, England and West Indies.

BCB wrote a letter to ICC
Earlier, on Sunday, the BCB had written to the ICC requesting that Bangladesh’s matches be held in Sri Lanka instead of India. The dispute between India and Bangladesh escalated after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asked IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to drop Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the squad. KKR bought Mustafizur for ₹9.20 crore in a mini-auction held last month. However, KKR dropped the Bangladeshi bowler from the squad as per BCCI’s instructions.
