Wrexham have been advised there's no need to splash the cash in the January transfer window after spending a whopping £33million on new recruits last summer. The Red Dragons, owned by Hollywood A-listers Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, made significant investments after earning promotion from League One in April.

The Welsh club brought in 13 new players during the summer window, with manager Phil Parkinson aiming to assemble a squad capable of holding its own in the Championship. Their investment seems to be paying dividends so far, with Wrexham currently sitting ninth in the league table, just a point shy of the play-off spots and six points away from automatic promotion.

Former Wales striker Iwan Roberts has now suggested that Parkinson already has a well-rounded team at his disposal and doesn't urgently need to bolster his ranks now that the winter window is open.

Speaking to BBC Radio Cymru, he said: "The question was put to Phil Parkinson a few weeks ago if new players would come in when the window opened in January. If a player comes up who would improve the team and the squad, maybe he'd bring one or two in.

"But at the moment, he's more than content with the players that he's got. He has good options in every position, and there are players who have been out through injury who will be coming back fairly soon."

The former Norwich City forward added: "I think he's got one of the strongest squads in the Championship so I don't think they need to bring anyone in."

Wrexham officials have suggested the club will adopt a more cautious and selective strategy for the January transfer window. However, despite Roberts' recommendation, fresh faces are still anticipated at the Racecourse Ground as they pursue an historic fourth consecutive promotion.
