Shreyas Iyer Gets Fitness Clearance: Big relief news has come for Indian middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given him fitness clearance, after which Iyer is all set to make a comeback to international cricket in the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

Shreyas Iyer suffered a serious spleen injury during the Australia tour in October last year, due to which he stayed away from cricket for more than two months. After the injury, Iyer completed a rehabilitation program at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru and gradually regained match fitness.

Iyer played a brilliant innings while returning

After regaining fitness, Iyer made a strong comeback through domestic cricket. While playing for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he played a brilliant inning of 82 runs on 53 balls against Himachal Pradesh. His innings played an important role in giving Mumbai a close seven-run victory in the match played in Jaipur.

Shreyas Iyer had already been selected in India’s ODI squad, but his availability was dependent on fitness clearance. Now, according to multiple reports, he has received the green signal from the Center of Excellence (COE), paving the way for his international comeback.

Will be seen playing on 11th January

ODI vice-captain Iyer is likely to be a part of India’s playing eleven in the first ODI against New Zealand to be held in Vadodara on January 11. His return will strengthen India’s middle-order, especially at a time when the team is preparing for the upcoming big tournaments.
