TaTA Motors has launched petrol variants of Harrier and Safari in the Indian market. Ex-showroom price of Tata Harrier petrol starts at Rs 12.89 lakh, while Tata Safari petrol price starts at Rs 13.29 lakh. Both SUVs are powered by Tata's new 1.5-litre Hyperion Turbo-GD petrol engine, which generates 170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. This engine is available in many variants with manual and automatic gearbox options. The company claims that the new petrol models give the best mileage in the segment. The Tata Harrier Petrol has even made it to the India Book of Records for achieving the highest mileage for a petrol manual SUV in a 12-hour drive.

Performance and Features

With the introduction of the new engine, the performance of Harrier and Safari has become smoother, and noise and vibration (NVH) has also reduced significantly. They also offer the same premium features that these SUVs are known for. With this update, both the SUVs will now compete directly with the popular petrol-powered SUVs.

Feature Highlights

Apart from all the features provided with the new update in Harrier and Safari petrol engines, there are also some new additions. These include a large 36.9 cm infotainment touchscreen, audio system with Dolby Atmos support, digital rear-view mirror with built-in dashcam, memory ORVMs with reverse assist and dual-camera washer system. Both SUVs also get connected car technology and comfort features like sliding front armrest, built-in navigation with voice assistant.

Five-star safety rating

All variants of Harrier and Safari equipped with the new petrol engine have received a five-star safety rating from India NCAP. This makes petrol models at par with diesel variants in terms of safety. Level-2 ADAS system will also be available in these SUVs, which includes 22 safety features.

Tata Harrier, Safari Petrol: Variants

Tata Harrier petrol engine is available in Smart, Pure, Adventure and Fearless variants. Dark and Red Dark editions will also be available in select variants. Tata Safari petrol engine is available in Smart, Pure, Adventure and Accomplished variants. It comes in 6-seater and 7-seater options. Dark and Red Dark editions are also available in the top variants.
