Doing household chores is undoubtedly a challenge, especially when it comes to emptying the freezer. Due to accumulation of ice from time to time, the refrigerator door does not close easily and this also affects the coolness inside. Therefore defrosting is an essential process. Many people do not know how to defrost the refrigerator properly. Let us know simple and effective ways to do this.
Usually people immediately unplug the freezer and try to melt the ice by opening the door. But by doing this the cold air remains exclusively trapped in the freezer. It would be better to reduce the temperature slightly before defrosting, which reduces the moisture inside. Keeping a container filled with lukewarm water will allow the ice to melt slowly, eliminating the need for you to scrape it.
Many people use a spoon or knife to remove ice, but this can damage the internal structure of the refrigerator. Freezers have coolant pipes that can require expensive repairs if damaged. So it is best to let the ice melt slowly.
Once the ice melts completely, wipe off the moisture inside using a microfiber cloth. For cleaning, use a little vinegar mixed with lukewarm water, so that there is no strong smell left. Make sure that after the water in the fridge is clean, there is no smell in it.
This is an important step that is often overlooked. If you close the doors in a hurry, the moisture inside may freeze again. Therefore, open the doors for at least half an hour, so that it dries properly. After this, turn on the fridge and ensure that you put food in it only after it cools down thoroughly. This will not put unnecessary load on the compressor.
