New Delhi:The US Embassy in India has issued a stern warning to B1/B2 visitor visa applicants and holders planning to travel to the US. The Embassy has clearly said that every person going to America should understand clearly which activities are allowed on the visitor visa and which are not. Ignoring the rules can not only affect the current travel, but can also permanently close the way to America in the future.
The US Embassy shared an animated video on social media platform It was said in the video that if the officer suspects that the applicant will not follow the rules of visitor visa, his application can be rejected. The Embassy also clarified that after obtaining the B1/B2 visa, the responsibility for its correct and limited use rests solely with the visa holder.
The embassy warned that before traveling to America on B1/B2 visa, it is very important to know what can be done and what cannot be done. If a person misuses a visa or overstays in the US, a permanent travel ban can be imposed on him in the future. For more information, applicants have been advised to visit the official website travel.state.gov/visas.
A day before this warning, the US Embassy had also warned international students. The embassy said that students who violate US laws can have their visas canceled and be deported from the country. They may even be ineligible for any future US visas.
The embassy in its message bluntly said that American visa is not a right but a privilege. Breaking the law or being arrested can result in serious consequences on a student visa, including deportation and permanent ineligibility.
Last week, the US Embassy also issued a warning to those seeking H-1B and H-4 work visas. It was said that violation of American immigration laws could lead to strict criminal action.
All these warnings have come at a time when the US is increasing its crackdown on illegal immigration and student and work visa processes have been made more stringent. The effect of this has been that last year there was a decline of about 17 percent in the number of new international students in America. Especially there has been a decline in the number of students going from India.
On the other hand, the wait for H-1B visas for skilled foreign workers has become longer than ever. Applicants are now facing unprecedented waiting periods, further increasing the concerns of people planning to work in the US.
