The government has introduced a scheme under which farming equipment like tractors, rotavators, cultivators and even ‘farming drones’ are getting huge subsidies. According to different states and schemes, this discount starts from 40% to 60%. Why is this subsidy necessary? Modern machines not only complete the work in less time but also reduce wastage of seeds and manure. Only when the farmer’s costs reduce, his profits will increase. The aim of the government is that every small farmer of the country should become the owner of machines. Which machines are getting discount? The scope of this subsidy is quite large. You can buy machines like tractors, combine harvesters, power tillers, spray pumps, reapers and threshers at less than half the price. Apart from this, nowadays there is a lot of trend of organic farming and spraying medicines through drones, so the government is giving huge financial support even on expensive technology like drones. How to take advantage of this? (Simple Process) It is very easy to take advantage of this, just keep a few things in mind: Important documents: Keep Aadhaar card, bank account passbook (which is linked to Aadhaar), Khatauni (land papers) and mobile number ready with you. Application: In most of the states, one has to apply online for this on the portal of Agriculture Department. You can also get the form filled by visiting your nearest ‘CSC Centre’ or Jan Seva Kendra. Selection Process: Many times farmers are selected through first come-first serve or ‘lottery system’. Therefore, it is very important to apply on time. Special tip for farmers: One thing that you should always remember is that do not fall into the trap of any middleman or fraudster. This is a completely government process. If you are a small farmer (marginal farmer) or a woman farmer, you can be given even more priority in this subsidy.
