Under the Sardar Patel Awas Yojana of Gujarat Government, poor and needy families are being given financial assistance to build houses. The objective of the scheme is to provide affordable housing to economically weak and low income people, so that their life can be made easier.
Gujarat Housing Board (GHB) and Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) are implementing this scheme in urban areas. At the same time, Gujarat Rural Housing Corporation (GRHC) is handling its responsibility in rural areas. Eligible beneficiaries are given government subsidy for house construction under the scheme. Through Sardar Patel Awas Yojana, poor families are getting permanent houses, which provide basic facilities like electricity, water and toilet. Getting ownership of a house instills a sense of security and confidence in people.
Families living below poverty line (BPL) in rural areas can take advantage of this scheme. The applicant should not be availing the benefit of any other housing scheme earlier. People who have limited agricultural land can also take advantage of this. Only one husband or wife can avail the benefit of this scheme. This scheme can be applied for only once in a lifetime.
The original residents of the village will have to take a certificate from the Sarpanch stating that they have not received the benefit of any housing scheme earlier. There is no existing residence in his or his wife’s name.
Application for housing scheme can be made offline. Interested people can download the form from the official website. After filling the form along with the necessary documents, you can give it to the Taluka Panchayat or District Panchayat office or the nearest Taluka Extension Officer.
