Union Budget 2026 dates are finally out! After much speculation, officials have cleared the schedule for the budget session this year.
Parliament’s Budget session is set to commence on January 28 and will conclude on April 2. The Budget session begins with the address of President Droupadi Murmu to the joint session of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha in the Lok Sabha chamber.
The President’s address will be delivered on January 28, followed by the submission of the Economic Survey in the Parliament on January 29.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to propose her ninth consecutive budget on February 1, which is a Sunday.
The first part of Parliament’s Budget Session will be held between January 28 and February 13, while the second part of the session is scheduled between March 9 and April 2.
“The first phase concludes on 13 February 2026, with Parliament reassembling on 9 March 2026, a vital step towards meaningful debate and people-centric governance,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on X (formerly Twitter).
While neither NSE nor BSE has confirmed, there are reports that the National Stock Exchange was exploring the feasibility of keeping the equity markets open on February 1, if the Union Budget was presented on that day. Any decision by the exchange will depend on the government’s official notification.
As per Nifty Trader, for short-term traders, the uncertainty around the markets being open on February 1 or not adds an extra layer of risk management.
