Tezzbuzz Desk – The ongoing controversy regarding the release of Thalapathy Vijay’s much talked about film ‘Jana Nayakan’ is now over. This film, which was stuck for a long time due to censor certificate, has got a big relief from the Madras High Court. The court has directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to issue a U/A certificate to the film, paving the way for its release.

Court’s strict comment on CBFC’s ban

Actually, ‘Jana Nayakan’ was earlier to be released on January 9, 2026 along with Prabhas’ film ‘The Raja Saab’. But at the last moment, the release of the film was postponed due to lack of clearance from CBFC. Challenging this decision, the makers reached Madras High Court, where the court canceled the letter issued by CBFC on January 6. The court clearly said that the CBFC chairperson had no authority to send the film to the review committee.

Now ‘Jana Nayakan’ gets U/A certificate

After the order of the High Court, now ‘Jana Nayakan’ will be given U/A certificate. This means that all categories of viewers can watch this film. However, children below 12 years of age will be allowed to watch the film under the supervision of a parent or guardian, while viewers above 12 years of age can watch it without any restrictions.

It is noteworthy that ‘Jana Nayakan’ was sent to CBFC for certification on December 18. At that time the board had given instructions to make 27 cuts in the film. Following these instructions, the makers made necessary changes and re-submitted the film, but despite this the certificate was not given. Only after this the makers approached the court.
