The study also found that every second person in the group eating more packaged food was more likely to fall prey to diabetes. Food preservatives are added to packaged foods to keep them safe and fresh for a longer period of time. These include chemicals like sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate, potassium sorbate, acetate and acetic acid.
Apart from this, the Nutri-Net-Santé study, based on data from the National Health Care System of France, which has been going on for the last 14 years, shows that continuous consumption of these chemicals can gradually cause symptoms of cancer in the body. Especially the risk of prostate cancer and breast cancer has increased.
