A special campaign is being run across the district to stop drug trafficking. In the same sequence, the team of Kathgodam police station incharge Vimal Kumar Mishra, while checking on Kunwarpur Gaula bridge bypass road on Wednesday night, stopped a biker and searched him.
Upon search, a huge quantity of smack was recovered from the biker. Police arrested the accused and registered a case under NDPS Act in Kathgodam police station. The arrested youth has been identified as Manjeet Singh (35 years), son of Santok Kaur, resident of Tukdi, police station Nanakmatta, district Udham Singh Nagar.
According to the police, during interrogation he revealed that he was planning to bring smack from Nanakmatta and sell it in Haldwani. Police said that the accused also had a criminal history. Even before this, a case has been registered against him under NDPS Act in Pithoragarh district and he has gone to jail.
