Rajsamand. A heart-wrenching road accident took place in the district last night. The car caught fire after it overturned in Amet police station area. In the accident, an innocent one year old girl traveling in the car was burnt alive, while her parents, elder sister and the driver were seriously injured.

According to the police, Railmagra resident Vikas Jain (32) was going from Amet to Railmagra with his wife Rajeshwari Jain, two daughters Dhanishtha (4) and Pranidhi (1) and driver Kaluram. At night, his car went out of control and overturned in Amet police station circle. As soon as the car overturned, it caught fire within seconds.

Amet police station incharge Om Singh Chundawat said that as soon as the car overturned, it caught fire rapidly, due to which the people sitting inside did not get a chance to get out. Local people and passers-by present at the spot showed courage and pulled out Vikas Jain, his wife, elder daughter and the driver from the flames, but one year old girl Pranidhi remained trapped inside and died on the spot.

Local people said that the family was badly trapped in the car, due to which it took about an hour for rescue. During this time the car was completely burnt to ashes. All the people injured in the accident were first admitted to Amet and later to R.K. of Rajsamand. Referred to district hospital.

Rajeshwari Jain has a fractured leg, while Vikas Jain has a severely cut tongue. The condition of driver Kaluram and four-year-old Dhanishtha remains critical. Police have registered the case and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
