New Delhi, 11 January. Mandar Parvat has been mentioned repeatedly in Hinduism. It is believed that this was the resting place of Lord Vishnu and it was here that the churning of the ocean took place. But do you know where this mountain is and what happened to Mandar Mountain after the churning of the ocean? Even today, the Mandar mountain is present in Banka, Bihar, which was used during the churning of the ocean. In that churning, along with the nectar, poison also came out. Mandar Parvat, an 800 feet high granite hill located 50 km from Bhagalpur city, offers a picturesque view and is associated with the legend of Amrit Manthan.

According to legend, the gods used this hill to churn the ocean to obtain nectar. The secrets and evidence of the things that were mentioned in the mythological stories during the churning of the ocean by the gods are still present. There are marks of more than 10 meters long and thick lines on the mountain, which are considered to be the symbol of Vasuki Naga. During the churning, the serpent Vasuki was wrapped around Mandar Mountain and its marks are still present.

On this hill, there is also a temple named Madhusudan dedicated to Lord Krishna, which is very old. A small statue of Shri Krishna made of black stone is installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. It is believed that after killing the demon Madhu, Lord Krishna stopped to rest on Mandar Mountain, after which this temple was established. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, a grand fair is organized in the temple, where lakhs of devotees reach. The administration itself arranges the grand fair and gets the work done from security to painting.

On the day of Makar Sankranti, devotees also take bath in the Papaharani Kund outside the temple. The special thing about this pond is that one night before Makar Sankranti, the water level in it becomes very low and the conch in the pond becomes visible, but the next day the water level increases. This sight is seen only once a year on Makar Sankranti. Every year, Rath Yatra of Lord Madhusudan is taken out in Madhusudan temple, in which the chariot is prepared for Lord Shri Krishna. Devotees from North India to South India are seen at Mandar Mountain to pull the chariot.
