Memory Loss in Adults Reasons: In today’s fast-paced life, people often start facing many problems as soon as they cross the age of 30. Body fatigue, irritability, lack of attention and forgetfulness are considered normal. Work pressure, family problems, mobile screens and busy lifestyle gradually start affecting the mind. When a person starts ignoring the needs of his intellect, body and mind, then in the language of Ayurveda it is called Prajnaparadha.
At the same time, science believes that after 30, the effects of stress, lack of sleep and wrong lifestyle on the brain cells become clearly visible. Both Ayurveda and science agree that the mind is made of what we give it every day.
In Ayurveda, sleep has been called Bhootdhatri. Science also believes that during deep sleep the brain cleanses the toxins accumulated inside it. If there is insufficient sleep after 30, the brain’s memory becomes weak and emotions quickly become uncontrollable. Sleeping and waking up at the same time every day gives a sense of security to the brain. This keeps hormones balanced and the mind remains calm. This habit gradually improves focus, learning ability and mood.
Walking increases blood flow in the brain, which strengthens new nerve cells. After 30, heavy exercise is not necessary, but daily walking, yoga or light stretching keeps the mind young. This reduces stress and signals the brain that the body is safe.

It is said in Ayurveda that as is the food, so is the mind. Eating too much sweet, fried and packaged food increases inflammation in the brain. Science calls it brain inflammation which affects attention and memory. After 30, the brain needs proteins, good fats, whole grains and fresh vegetables. Ghee, dry fruits and adequate water provide lubrication and strength to the brain. Eating right gives stability to the mind as well as makes it sharp and balanced.
It is also important to give new challenges to the mind every day. In Ayurveda it is called Medha Vriddhi i.e. increasing intelligence. According to science, when the brain learns something new, new pathways are formed between its nerves. After 30, if the brain gets only mobile screen then it becomes dull. Reading, writing, learning a new language or a new skill keeps the mind active. This maintains the ability to think and reduces the problem of forgetfulness that comes with age.
In Ayurveda, stress is considered to be an imbalance of Vata dosha. Science also believes that due to constant stress the brain is always in a state of danger. This impairs sleep and memory.
To keep body and mind healthy, take deep breaths daily, spend time in nature and understanding your emotions instead of suppressing them will relax the mind. The real health of the mind is not to eliminate stress but to digest it gradually.
