Lucknow. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is continuously taking concrete steps towards clean energy and green transportation. The state is registering its strong presence among the leading states of the country in the development of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
2,316 electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in Uttar Pradesh in the last five years. This achievement not only reflects the rapidly increasing urbanization and industrial development of the state, but is also a clear evidence of the visionary policies of the Yogi government.
According to Sandeep Yadav, CEO of Yahvi Group, work is going on at a rapid pace towards setting up EV charging stations in Uttar Pradesh. Special EV charging stations for trucks have also been set up by Yahvi Group in Mathura and Vrindavan.
A total of 29,151 electric vehicle charging stations have been installed across the country, in which Uttar Pradesh's contribution is notable. The 2,316 charging stations present in the state include 540 fast chargers and 1,776 slow chargers. This shows that the state government has developed a balanced and practical charging network keeping in mind the needs of urban and semi-urban areas.
The scope of electric vehicle charging facilities is being continuously expanded in major cities like Lucknow, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Agra. This is facilitating the adoption of electric vehicles for both personal and commercial use.
Establishing Uttar Pradesh as a leading state in the field of electric mobility is one of the major priorities of the Yogi government. For this purpose an investment-friendly environment has been created. Private companies and investors are being encouraged to set up electric vehicle charging stations, thereby promoting public-private partnerships.
Yogi government is paying equal attention to environmental protection along with development. The expansion of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure will reduce carbon emissions and strengthen pollution control. In a large and densely populated state like Uttar Pradesh, this initiative is playing an important role in improving air quality. Besides, the economy will also get long-term benefits by reducing dependence on petrol and diesel.
Under the Central Government's FAME-1 and FAME-2 schemes, 9,576 EV charging stations have been installed across the country, Uttar Pradesh has also benefited from them. Apart from this, a provision of Rs 2,000 crore has been made for the expansion of EV charging infrastructure under the PM e-Drive scheme.
According to experts, the number of electric vehicles in Uttar Pradesh will increase rapidly in the coming years. In view of this, the state government is working on a strategy to develop EV charging stations at expressways, industrial areas, bus stands, railway stations and tourist places.
