There has been a recent resurgence of rumors about Don 3, this time in connection with Shah Rukh Khan potentially returning to the cult series that was partly his redefinition. The speculations started after news broke of Ranveer Singh’s departure from the movie, which has left the fans guessing the next move of Farhan Akhtar’s big picture.

According to a report by TellyChakkar, Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly set to reprise his iconic character Don, who, after appearing in Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), became practically the embodiment of his sophisticated screen image. Neither the actor nor the filmmakers have made any statement about it until now, but insiders reveal that SRK agrees to re-enter the franchise only if a certain condition is met.

According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan is keen on a collaboration with Atlee for Don 3. After the success of the box office hit Jawan, which was directed by Atlee and starred SRK, the superstar is said to be convinced that the director’s knack for bigger-than-life stories and his incredible fan following could make the film even more spectacular and inject new enthusiasm into the franchise. But the talks are still very preliminary, and there is still no decision taken regarding Atlee’s participation or SRK’s comeback.
Don 3 was made public with Ranveer Singh being the one to take up the lead role, thus indicating a significant change in the cast. However, the actor is said to have left the project last year, toward the end of the year. According to Pinkvilla, one of the reasons behind Ranveer’s move was his changing professional choices. The actor is also believed to want to work with directors whom he really admires, and at the same time, he is wary of getting stuck in the role of a similar character, especially after the considerable success he has had with Dhurandhar.
On the other hand, Don 3 is still one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Kiara Advani was cast initially as the female lead, but she reportedly left the team. Kriti Sanon is now rumored to be the one stepping up to the role, yet the production team has not made any statements.
The casting of the villain has also been one of the mysterious bits. It has been reported that Vikrant Massey and Vijay Deverakonda were among the actors who were contacted for the role but both declined it as the character was not deep enough, according to the rumour.
