US President Donald Trump on Saturday resorted to tariff threats to pressure countries opposing his bid to take over Greenland. In a post on X, Trump announced that beginning February 1, the United States will impose a 10 per cent tariff on all goods imported from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland.

The tariffs will be increased to 25 per cent from June 1, Trump said, adding that the levies would remain in force until a deal is reached for the “complete and total purchase of Greenland.” The move marks a sharp escalation in trade pressure against key European nations amid renewed geopolitical tensions.
