There is a possibility that the rules regarding toll collection will be changed through the government so that the time of common drivers can be read while traveling on the highways.

According to the information received, there will be a drastic change in the method of toll collection at the toll plaza in this new year. The central government is now going to make the toll collection system completely online. Now drivers will be able to pay toll only in cashless mode.

Drivers will be able to pay toll through FASTag or UPI. After the implementation of the new rule, cash will not be accepted at toll plazas.

Implementation of the decision in the new financial year

It is likely that this new decision will be implemented by the central government from the coming financial year. It is said that the new rules will come into effect from April 1, 2025.

It means that now the drivers will have to pay the toll through UPI (like Phone Pay, Google Pay BHIM UPI) or through FASTag. This will save a lot of time for all common motorists.

Actually, this is not the case at the toll plaza where the motorists have to stay at the toll booth for a long time to make the payment. Due to this, new rules will be implemented to read the time of the drivers. The Secretary of the Union Ministry of Highways has given information about this.

He said that the facility of paying toll through UPI is being launched and it is getting good popularity. Due to this, the government has now decided to completely ban cash at toll plazas. These new rules will come into effect after April 1, he said. Of course, the date of its implementation has not been announced yet. But these new rules will come into effect in the new financial year.
