Traveling often becomes a difficulty for people with full time jobs. Planning a trip is not easy with daily meetings and deadlines. But if planned properly, traveling with a job is possible. By making proper use of public holidays and weekends in 2026, you can take many long holidays throughout the year.
Neha Sudan, known as ‘Breathing Postcards’ on Instagram, has shared an impressive holiday plan for 2026. He told how he and his partner traveled to several countries in a year even though they were working full-time corporate jobs. He believes that discipline, proper planning and supportive management make the journey easier.
Republic Day in January is on Monday, 26th. January 24th and 25th are weekends, giving you a long three-day break without any extra leave. This time is suitable for traveling with family or visiting nearby hill stations.
There are fewer long weekends in February. Neha advises to focus on short breaks or staycations instead of heavy traveling this month. This will avoid fatigue and maintain energy for the next months.
Holi is on 4th in March. If you take leave on March 2 and 3, this break can become five days. This time is ideal for a trip to the mountains or the beach.
Good Friday is on the 3rd in April. It can be combined with a weekend to make a comfortable three-day break. This is a great opportunity for short holiday travelers.
Eid al Adha is on Wednesday, May 27. If you take leave on May 28 and 29, the break becomes five days. This time during summer season is suitable for visiting hill stations.
There are no major holidays in June and July. Neha recommends weekend getaways and road trips at this time. Due to this, the journey continues and work is not affected.
In the last week of August, Eid-e-Milad is on 25th August and Rakhi is on 28th August. If you take leave on August 26 and 27, you can get a total break of six days. This time is also right for international travel.
There is no weekend holiday in September. Neha suggests taking out time for family and yourself this month. This is necessary for mental comfort.
Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 is on Friday, giving a three-day break with the weekend. Vijayadashami is on Tuesday, 20th October. A break of four days can be made by taking leave on 19th October.
Govardhan Puja on 9th November is on Monday and Guru Nanak Jayanti on 24th November is on Tuesday. If you take leave from November 10 to 13, it could turn into a nine-day long break. This is considered to be the best travel window of the year.
Christmas is on Friday 25th December. If you take leave from 28th to 31st December, you can get ten days break in just four holidays. With this, the new year can be started while travelling.
