Atishi, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and a senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, has responded to the Privileges Committee’s notice. She clearly stated that respecting Sikh Gurus is not a mere formality for her, but a deeply held belief and life-long value. Atishi termed all allegations against her as baseless and unfounded, stating that she has never disrespected the Gurus in her entire life.

To uncover the truth, she has demanded that the committee provide her with the original, unedited video recording of the Delhi Assembly proceedings held on January 6th. This controversy relates to alleged comments made during the January 6th session, which prompted the opposition to criticize her. Atishi says that an unedited video recording will help to clarify the truth.

‘Unwavering faith in Sikh Gurus…’

Atishi emphasized religious sensitivity and her personal values. She stated that she deeply respects the Sikh Gurus and their teachings. According to her, insulting any great man or Guru is against her ethos and upbringing. She assured the committee that her words had been misrepresented and that she could not even imagine insulting the Gurus.

Demand for original video recordings

Atishi has challenged the allegations and questioned the authenticity of the evidence. She has appealed to the Privileges Committee to provide her with official, unedited video footage of the Assembly session from that day. She believes that the evidence and video clips currently being shown do not tell the full truth.
