Vande Bharat Sleeper Ticket Cancellation: With the launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, significant changes have been made to the ticket cancellation rules. The new charges may surprise passengers. Understand the complete calculation.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Ticket Cancellation: After the Vande Bharat Express train, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has now also been launched in the country. This means that people will now get the luxurious amenities of the Vande Bharat train even for long-distance journeys, making travel more comfortable. The Vande Bharat Sleeper train will run between Howrah in West Bengal and Guwahati in Assam, covering a distance of approximately 968 kilometers in about 14 hours.

While the train offers many facilities, its rules are also slightly different. If you book a ticket on a normal train and then cancel it, you don't have to pay much; you only have to pay a nominal cancellation charge. But in Vande Bharat, you will have to pay an amount equivalent to the cost of a Rajdhani train ticket. Learn the complete calculation.

How much money will be deducted for ticket cancellation now?

According to the new railway guidelines, different charges will apply for canceling a confirmed ticket on the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, depending on the time of cancellation. The most important change is that the minimum deduction will now be a direct percentage. This means that if you cancel the ticket at any time after booking it, at least 25 percent of the fare will be deducted. If you cancel the ticket between 72 hours and 8 hours before the scheduled departure time, 50 percent of the fare will be deducted. Furthermore, if you cancel the ticket less than 8 hours before the train's departure, you will not get any refund. This means the entire fare could be forfeited. Therefore, be sure to understand the Vande Bharat Sleeper ticket cancellation rules.

You can get a Rajdhani ticket for that amount.

The amount deducted for Vande Bharat Sleeper ticket cancellation is enough to buy a confirmed Rajdhani Express ticket on several routes. Let's say a passenger booked a long-distance ticket on the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, and the fare was ₹4000. If the passenger cancels the ticket 72 to 8 hours before departure, approximately ₹2000 will be deducted.

This amount is enough to buy a ticket for Rajdhani Express's Third AC or, in many cases, Second AC. This means that a single mistake or a change in plans can cost passengers an amount equivalent to the fare for a complete journey on another premium train.

How is this rule different from other trains?

The cancellation rules for Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are significantly different from other trains and the existing Vande Bharat Chair Car trains. In regular trains, a fixed flat charge is levied for canceling tickets before the scheduled time. For example, ₹240 is deducted for First AC, ₹200 for Second AC, ₹180 for Third AC, ₹120 for Sleeper class, and ₹60 for Second Class. The cancellation charge remains fixed regardless of the distance. However, in the Vande Bharat Sleeper, the deduction will be a percentage of the fare instead of a flat charge.
