Nicola Peltz Beckham eye-opening social media activity in the lead-up to her husband's explosive statement about his family has come to light. Last night, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham broke his silence on the family feud that has dominated headlines for several months.
In a lengthy statement, the 26-year-old said he does not want to reconcile with his parents and accused them of being controlling. Victoria and David Beckham have yet to issue a response, but according to reports, the pair are said to be floored by his remarks.
Ahead of Brooklyn releasing the statement, fans noticed that several comments critical of his parents had been liked from Nicola’s TikTok account. One comment read: "I’m glad Brooklyn was able to join such a nice family."
Another TikTok user wrote: "I’m sorry but no one knows what goes on behind closed doors. There’s obviously a reason why Brooklyn doesn’t speak with his parents.
"No child would ever choose to cut off their parents without good reason." In a further telling move, Brooklyn’s wife of four years has deleted all traces of the Beckhams from her Instagram page.
According to a therapist, the actress’ reaction to the social media posts may have escalated "tension".
Jenna Budreau-Roman, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Love and Theory, told us: "Public social media behaviour tends to amplify conflict rather than resolve it.
"Even subtle actions such as liking posts can be interpreted as taking sides or escalating tension, especially when emotions are already high and the situation is under public scrutiny. Private processing is much more conducive to repair than public signalling."
With Brooklyn clarifying that he no longer wants contact with his family, Jenna also believes this decision could potentially strengthen his marriage.
"When there is chronic stress due to dynamics with the extended family, there is a tremendous amount of strain placed on a marriage," she explained.
"Creating firm boundaries can help a couple feel united, reduce external pressure, and regain a sense of stabilization.
"It does not make estrangement ‘the goal’, but instead a temporary means to protect the marital system."
Victoria and David, who have three other children, are accused by Brooklyn of "consistently" disrespecting Nicola "no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one".
Brooklyn added in his statement: "I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety.
“For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared."
Additionally, the eldest of the Beckham children accused his mother of "hijacking" the couple’s wedding dance and cancelling Nicola’s dress at short notice.
The couple have since renewed their vows without inviting any of Brooklyn’s family.
Explaining the decision, he continued: "We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment."
Victoria, David and Nicola have been approached for comment.
