Andy Murray was quick to call out the TNT Sports coverage of the Australian Open, even going as far as texting into the show. The legendary tennis ace hung up his racket for good in 2024, but is still very much a keen watcher of the sport he knows and loves.

So much so, Murray texted TNT Sport's lead presenter, Laura Robson, requesting that more airtime be given to Learner Tien. The 25th seed booked his spot in round three of the Australian Open with a classy performance, defeating Alexander Shevchenko 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.

Impressed with what he saw, Murray evidently believed the punditry team wasn't giving him enough praise. Speaking on Wednesday's TNT Sports broadcast, Robson revealed: "He [Learner Tien] has got some big fans because I have a text from Andy Murray who was watching and mentioned that we weren't speaking enough about Learner Tien."

John McEnroe was quick to jump in, telling Murray: "Come on down and visit."

It comes after Murray was tipped to make the move into punditry, as the BBC look for ways to innovate its Wimbledon coverage. Since retiring, the four-time Grand Slam champion joined former rival Novak Djokovic's coaching team for a stint, but otherwise has refrained from any tennis-related jobs.

Speaking to Express Sport earlier this month, Robson urged Murray to try his hand at punditry, saying: "I've told him I'd like to see it! Every time I see him, I'm like: 'When are you coming on?' But no, I think he's just happy to play golf at the minute.

"Eventually, maybe he might find some joy in trying it out. I think he's very settled at home, but if he eventually decides to do it, I know he'd be great and he would kill it in any sort of analyst role. I know he thinks that men's matches are too long to commentate on as well. So let's maybe throw him a women's match and see how that goes."
