Australian Open ace Elsa Jacquemot is likely to be on the lookout for a new coach after the pair had an on-court bust-up midway through her match with Yulia Putintseva. The Frenchwoman lost in straight sets to Putintseva, during what was her first-ever appearance in the Australian Open main draw.
Jacquemot's afternoon got off to a disastrous start, with the Frenchman 5-0 down after just 25 minutes. Clearly unhappy with some of the instructions her coach had sent her out with, Jacquemot began sharing some choice words for mentor Simon Blanc.
She was then seen complaining about coach Blanc to her team, with the television microphones catching her saying: "He has coached her for years and there are schemes [weaknesses] that he hasn't even told me about, it's a crazy scenario." This proved the straw that broke the camel's back for Blanc, as he grabbed his bag and headed straight for the exit door.
Blanc stopped for one last time and turned to Jacquemot to share his thoughts before storming out of the exit door. Jacquemot was quizzed on the altercation afterwards, and while she admitted emotions were high, the world No.60 didn't offer an apology.
She remarked: "It was very difficult. This is a very tough loss. In the first game, something external disrupted me. I don't really want to talk about it now, it's my private sphere. This is a very complicated defeat for me because I wanted to go very far in this tournament.

"I was far from my level in that match. So it's very frustrating. This is a loss that will be hard to digest. My mental strength is my greatest asset. In a match like this, I let myself be disrupted by something external. Unfortunately, I couldn't get back into it. I have many things to improve on this. I'll work on it. I'm mentally affected. I don't enjoy it at all, I'm falling apart, I'm playing very badly because it affected me psychologically."
Jacquemot's Australian Open singles campaign might've come to an end, but she'll go again in the women's doubles on Friday. Along with her partner Emiliana Arango, Jacquemot defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova and legendary tennis icon Venus Williams in the first round.
