It seems Farah Khan finally heard us, and the long-running petition of “Laut Aao Farah Khan” might soon turn into reality. The choreographer-turned-director has hinted at returning to the director’s chair after more than a decade, but in true Farah style, there’s a fun twist and one clear condition attached to it.

Farah Khan confirms comeback soon

Farah Khan has been dearly missed as a filmmaker. Known for her unapologetically over-the-top, colourful and crowd-pleasing cinema, she carved a niche for herself with films that never took themselves too seriously. While she has stayed relevant through her entertaining YouTube vlogs, fans have been craving her signature big-screen magic complete with catchy songs, dramatic entries and whistle-worthy moments.

The big hint about her comeback came during a recent episode of her YouTube vlog, where Farah visited actor Nakuul Mehta at his Mumbai home. What started as a casual conversation soon turned nostalgic when Nakuul mentioned how much he missed the kind of films Farah used to make. That’s when the filmmaker dropped the update fans had been waiting for.

Farah revealed that she does plan to direct a film again and even shared a rough timeline. She said she hopes to start working on her next project by the end of this year, once her children leave for college. She also acknowledged the internet’s demand for her return, mentioning the viral “Laut Aao Farah Khan” petition and joking that the pressure might finally be working.

Will Farah Khan leave YouTube?

However, before fans could celebrate too early, Farah added a caveat. While she spoke about returning to films, she made it clear that she is not walking away from YouTube anytime soon. In fact, she joked that her vlogs help her pay her children’s school and college fees, making it clear that YouTube is here to stay, for now.

The real surprise came when Nakuul playfully asked if YouTube would also produce her next film. That’s when Farah laid down her condition loud and clear. She said that if she does return to direction, it will only be with Shah Rukh Khan. Otherwise, she joked, she’s happy to continue doing YouTube videos and wait it out.

Naturally, this statement sent fans into a frenzy. The Farah Khan-Shah Rukh Khan pairing is one of Bollywood’s most successful and beloved collaborations. Farah made her directorial debut with Main Hoon Na in 2004, a film that combined action, emotion, romance and comedy, all wrapped in a package.

She followed it up with Om Shanti Om in 2007, which went on to become a pop-culture phenomenon and remains one of King Khan’s most iconic films.

The duo reunited again for Happy New Year in 2014. While the film received mixed reviews, it performed well at the box office and reinforced Farah’s reputation for delivering mass entertainers. It has now been over 12 years since Farah last directed a film, making the possibility of her return even more exciting.

While there is no official announcement yet, Farah Khan’s comments have clearly reignited hope. If things fall into place and Shah Rukh Khan says yes, Bollywood might soon witness the comeback of a filmmaker who knows exactly how to turn fun, nostalgia and spectacle into box-office gold. Stay tuned!
