Rampur : Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan, his wife Dr. Tanzeen Fatima and younger son Abdullah Azam, lodged in UP’s Rampur jail, have resigned from the Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust on Friday. While announcing the new executive, Azam Khan has made his sister Nikhat Aflaq the new president of the trust.

Elder son Mohammad Adeeb Azam has been made the secretary. That means the responsibility of the trust has been handed over to the new team. Samajwadi Party MLA Nasir Ahmed Khan has been appointed Joint Secretary, Mushtaq Ahmed Siddiqui as Vice President and Javed Ur Rehman Khan as Treasurer. Registrar of Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, Dr. SN Salam confirmed.

Let us tell you that Jauhar University and Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust were jointly established by stalwarts like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Azam Khan, Amar Singh, Jayaprada. The Trust was granted grant by NCMEI on 28 May 2013. Azam Khan’s dream project Johar Trust also manages and operates Rampur Public Schools along with the University, but Azam Khan had to resign from the post of Chairman of the Trust due to the legal cases going on against him and other members accused in one or the other case also had to be removed from the Trust. Azam Khan and his son Abdullah are lodged in Rampur jail in double PAN card case. A case is also going on against the Trust for taking over the land of farmers.

Azam Khan left his post due to legal issues

At present about 30 cases are going on against Jauhar Trust, but during the tenure of Azam Khan, there were problems in the functioning of the trust. Therefore Azam Khan had to separate from the trust. The troubles of Johar Trust and Azam Khan had increased after the Akhilesh Yadav government was out of power in May 2017 and the formation of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government.

The situation became so bad that cases were registered against Azam Khan in Rampur in about 90 cases, out of which 30 cases were registered in cases to Jauhar University alone. The cases pertain to 1500 bighas of land purchased for the university, the investigation of which is going on for the last 5 years. University students are also getting troubled due to the action of the investigating agencies.
