Harry Kane has been mocked by Augsburg on social media after they secured a shock 2-1 win at Bayern Munich - ending their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga.

The Bavarians had been relentless this term and are on course to land another title in Germany. Prior to Saturday they had only lost once all season, that coming against Arsenal in the Champions League, but had to stomach domestic defeat for the first time.

Vincent Kompany's side went in front at the Allianz Arena but were then on the receiving end of a shock comeback. Relegation-threatened Augsburg scored twice in six minutes late in the second half - through Arthur Chaves and Han-Noah Massengo - to record a famous win.

Kane failed to add to his tally for the season and Augsburg were more than happy to stick the knife in with a sly dig on social media, creating a fake text exchange which mocked the striker for "not showing up".

Augsburg's win moved them up to 13th with the win and although Bayern had to taste a rare loss they remain eight points clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga.

Kompany said following the loss: "This result is dedicated to those who always knew that the Bundesliga is not easy, and that every match carries risks. We were stable in the first half, but without much creativity."

He went on to say: "It was a match where you say: Okay, we played 5 matches in 13 days, and maybe today we get a result without putting on a show. I am more disappointed with the result than the performance. We were in a good position but we let it slip. We couldn't show the same energy we had in previous matches during the second half. Congratulations to Augsburg. This is part of football. Now the important thing is to show a reaction."

Kane has been prolific ever since moving to Munich from Tottenham and this season has scored 34 times in 30 games as he looks on course to break his record for a single season in Germany.

His blank on Saturday comes after he scored in midweek as the German champions saw off Belgian outfit Union Saint Gilloise in the Champions League. Kane's first goal saw him become the first ever Englishman to reach the 70-goal mark in UEFA competitions and only the seventh player in the history of European club football to do so.
