The country’s leading car company Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has received a notice to income tax. According to the information given by the company, the Income Tax Authority has demanded a total tax of ₹ 1182.5 crore including interest for the financial year 2021-22. The company said that it will file an appeal in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal. Maruti Suzuki India has confirmed that this order will not have any impact on its financial affairs, operations or other business activities. The company has received this notice at a time when the share fell 1.87% and closed at Rs 15469.60.
Company will invest Rs 35,000 crore
Last week, Maruti Suzuki India said it would set up a new manufacturing plant near Sanand in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district with an investment of Rs 35,000 crore. According to the state government, the project is likely to generate employment opportunities for around 12,000 people. The country’s largest passenger car manufacturing company will set up this plant in Khoraj GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) campus. According to a government statement, Maruti Suzuki India Limited will set up a new vehicle manufacturing plant in Khoraj on 1,750 acres of land provided by GIDC. This total investment of Rs 35,000 crore will create potential employment opportunities for more than 12,000 people.
Production of 22.55 lakh units in calendar year 2025
Maruti Suzuki reported record annual production of 22.55 lakh units in calendar year 2025, up 9.3 percent from the previous year. The company said that this is the second consecutive year that the company’s annual production has crossed the level of 20 lakh units. The company had produced 20.63 lakh units in the year 2024. According to the company, its top five models in terms of production in 2025 will be Ford, Baleno, Swift, Dezire and Ertiga.
