Before the arrival of February, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced bank holidays. According to the calendar of the Reserve Bank of India, banks will remain closed on weekly holidays, local festivals of states and the second and fourth Saturday of the month next month. Due to bank closure, many banking works including check book and pass book may get affected, however online services will continue so that you can work. ATM and debit card transactions will also remain operational.


Let us tell you that bank holidays in India include national holidays (gazetted holidays) and government holidays (state/centre). State government holidays vary from state to state, while central government holidays remain the same across the country. Also regional holidays are to a particular state or region. Just because a day is a holiday in one state does not mean that it will be a holiday in another state too.

  7. 20 February: Arunachal Pradesh/Mizoram (State Foundation Day)

  8. 22 February: Sunday

  9. February 28: Fourth Saturday

  • Customers can use online services during bank holidays, because bank holidays have no effect on digital services like UPI, Mobile Banking, Internet Banking.

  • You can use net banking through the official website or mobile app of any bank in which you have an account. In this, the facility of money transfer, payment of bills and balance check is available.

  • Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a secure way to transfer money. You just have to use UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm etc.

  • Apart from this, customers can also avail many services through the bank’s mobile app on smartphone, like fund transfer, mobile recharge, utility bill payment etc.

  • ATMs are always available to withdraw money, check balance and get mini statements. You can also use facilities like cardless cash withdrawal in ATM.


Note: Customers are advised to check the holidays from their local bank branch in their city before visiting the bank, as bank holidays in India depend on the local festivals of different states. Apart from this, you can also check the latest updates on the official website of RBI or bank app.
