Indian star batter Abhishek Sharma has taken over the internet with TikTok and Instagram reels after delivering “video game” performances against New Zealand, leading India to a 3-0 series sweep.
The 25-year-old dominated the field by hitting a 14-ball fifty, becoming the second fastest Indian player in history to do so.
New Zealanders felt so intimidated that they jokingly searched for hidden springs in his bat.
The recently ranked World No. 1 batter, in a post-match presentation, said, “I don’t have a lot of shots. It’s just a few shots I’m going to practice a lot about that and I’ll just execute.”
The left-hander’s success is not an outcome of reckless power-hitting but a disciplined mindset. He himself claimed to avoid mindless hitting, saying:
“I never do range-hitting. I’m more of a timing batter; I need to watch the ball and get used to the conditions.”
Abhishek scored his most fifties in 25 balls or fewer.
While revealing the reason behind his aggressive approach, he noted that, “I’ve figured out if you want to hit all balls or strike at 200, you have to carry intent. All teams have a plan for me. It’s about my preparation. I’m going to back my instinct.”
