Dubai. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav on Wednesday moved up five places to seventh place in the ICC (International Cricket Council) men’s T20 International rankings for batsmen after his impressive performance in the ongoing five-match home series against New Zealand.
India has so far won the first three matches of this five-match series. Suryakumar, who was previously number one, scored 32, 82 not out and 57 not out in these matches, due to which he was successful in moving up in the rankings.
India opener Abhishek Sharma continues to top the batting rankings ahead of the T20 World Cup while Tilak Verma is in third place. Tilak Verma is not playing in this series due to injury. Ishan Kishan, who scored 76 runs on 32 balls in the second match played in Raipur, has re-entered the rankings at 64th position.
Shivam Dubey (up nine places to 58th) and Rinku Singh (up 13 places to 68th) have also been rewarded for their good performances. Afghanistan’s opener Ibrahim Zadran, who performed brilliantly during the 2-1 series win against West Indies in Dubai, has moved up two places to 13th and Rahmanullah has moved up three places to 15th.
Darvesh Rasooli, who was the Player of the Series, has climbed 29 places to reach 87th position. South African captain Aiden Markram has reached the top 20 on the basis of his unbeaten innings of 86 runs played in 47 balls in the first match against West Indies. West Indies’ Brandon King (up 15 places to 35th) and New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips (up 18 places to 44th) have also gained.
Afghanistan’s spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has moved up five places to ninth place in the rankings for bowlers in T20. The rankings of India’s Jasprit Bumrah (up four places to 13th) and Ravi Bishnoi (up 13 places to 19th) have also improved. South Africa’s Corbin Bosch has moved up eight places to reach his career-best 32nd ranking.
India’s Hardik Pandya has jumped 18 places in the bowling rankings by taking four wickets in three matches and has reached 59th position. In the batsmen’s rankings too, he has moved up two places to 53rd position. Pandya has moved up one place to third place in the rankings for all-rounders. In the ODI rankings, England batsman Harry Brook has moved up 17 places to 11th and Joe Root has moved up from 23rd to 17th.
