After improvement in air quality i.e. AQI in Delhi NCR, CAQM has lifted the restrictions of Group 3. As per the orders of CAQM, the sub-committee on GRAP held its meeting today. Reviewed the air quality situation in the area and IMD’s forecast and found that Delhi’s AQI is improving due to good weather conditions. Today i.e. on 22 January 2026, AQI 322 was recorded. IMD’s forecast shows that AQI is likely to remain in the “moderate” to “poor” category in the coming days.
It has been decided to immediately withdraw its order dated 16.01.2026 for taking action under Stage-III (‘Severe’ Air Quality) of the GRAP schedule. According to this, construction and demolition project sites etc., which have been given special closure orders due to violation of various legal instructions, rules, guidelines etc., cannot resume their work under any circumstances without receiving a specific order in this regard from the Commission.
Grape-3 removed in Delhi-NCR
However, the action will still continue under Stage-I and II of GRAP in Delhi-NCR, which will be monitored and reviewed by all concerned agencies across NCR to ensure that the AQI level does not fall further to “Severe/Severe+ category”. All implementing agencies will maintain close monitoring and intensify measures, especially under Stages I and II of the modified GRAP.
These restrictions will continue
It was also said that GRAP Stage-III is being cancelled. Keeping in mind the winter season when weather conditions are not so pleasant and to ensure that the AQI level does not fall further, citizens are requested to strictly follow the Citizen Charter under GRAP Stage-I and II.
