People living in many outskirts and adjoining areas of Bengaluru will face a 12-hour planned power cut from **6 AM to 6 PM** daily on Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1, 2026. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (**BESCOM**) and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (**KPTCL**) have announced these shutdowns for critical maintenance and upgrades to strengthen the power grid ahead of summer demand.
Main functions include:
– Replacing old transmission lines and installing higher capacity conductors.
– Servicing substations for better load management.
– To enhance overall grid stability to reduce future outages.
**Mainly affected areas** (Mainly southern outskirts and industrial zones):
– Sarjapur, Attibele (including Attibele Industrial Area), Anekal.
– Villages and localities: Samanduru, Balagarnahalli, Manchanahalli, Dasanpura, Balluru, Harohalli.
– Other connected areas: Kambalipura, Chikkanahalli, Indalbele, and nearby feeders.
These interruptions target specific feeders/substations; Core areas of Bengaluru city will remain largely unaffected. **Preparation Tips from Officials**:
– Fully charge the mobile, laptop, power bank and inverter before 6 am.
– Store plenty of water in tanks/buckets (electric pumps will not work).
– Fill the generator with fuel and check the backup system.
– Plan to work-from-home or postpone heavy power-dependent tasks (e.g., grinding spices) to Friday evening.
– Keep essential things ready for kitchen and daily needs.
After maintenance, power supply will be restored in phases, in some places it may happen earlier also. For real-time status or area wise information, call the BESCOM helpline **1912** or visit the official BESCOM website/app.
This proactive step is aimed at ensuring reliable supply during the peak summer months, although it may cause some temporary inconvenience. Stay updated through official channels.
