Everyone feels like eating carrot halwa in winter, but the long time taken to make it often cools down the excitement. Grating, stirring for a long time and waiting for the milk to dry, people avoid all this just by thinking about it. But if you come to know that the same wonderful taste can be achieved without much hard work and time, then the fun becomes double.
There are some desi jugaads by which you can prepare carrot halwa in minutes instead of hours. Not much hassle, not hours of hard work.
The biggest problem in making carrot halwa is grating it. Many hours are spent just grating carrots. Not only this, hands also start hurting. In such a situation, now you do not need to grate the carrots. Instead, just peel the carrot, cut it into pieces and then boil it in a pressure cooker with all the ingredients and finally mash it.
Nowadays most homes have a microwave. This electric appliance is needed the most during the winter season. You can use it to make instant carrot halwa. For this you just have to keep peeled carrots and milk in a microwave vessel. Then heat it on high for 6 minutes and finally add sugar, ghee and cardamom and microwave for additional 5 minutes. Now the pudding is ready.
Many people think that grinding carrots in a mixer will result in a paste, but with the right method it can be made thick and crispy. Cut the carrots into small pieces and put them in the mixer jar. Use pulse mode: Instead of running the mixer continuously, run it 3-4 times in ‘pulse mode’ and then stop. This will grind the carrots coarsely, as if grated. If the mixer is stirred continuously, carrot paste will form and the texture of the halwa may get spoiled.
